1) Assist to Pin Press – If user stalls during lift, system will assist, lifting barbell to 3" above the sticking point. Continue with more partial reps until full exhaustion, then return to rack.
2) Assists to Negatives – Combines ‘Assist’ mode and ‘Negative’ mode. When user stalls, system assists to lift barbell to top of rep. Then, if the user is supporting the bar, the system lowers the support and negative reps begin. This mode really burns the muscles.
3) VBT VL20% - Velocity Based Training with a 20% velocity loss threshold. Lift explosively. Stop at chime when bar speed has decreased 20% from first rep.
4) Negatives – Using heavier than usual weights, slowly lower barbell. System will lift weight to top. User holds weight at top as system lowers support 5” to check if the user is engaged. If engaged, the support lowers to the bottom and user slowly lowers barbell. System then lifts the barbell and cycle repeats. User may stop by placing the barbell on its rest at the top of a rep.
5) Cluster Sets - Guides user to perform a few reps per cluster with maximum velocity, then hold for a timed 20 second rest in between, programmed for three clusters. For example, lift until 20% velocity loss reached, rack the weight, hold for 20 seconds, then repeat this for three cluster sets. No assist provided during cluster sets.
6) Free Mode - Provides all the diagnostics and output metrics, but no assistance is given.
7) Paused Negatives (Trial mode) - Similar to a Negative Set but with a 2 second delay added after the Power Assist lowering is complete. A paused negative allows you to deliberately stop and hold the weight for a moment during the lowering phase before continuing to the bottom, increasing control and muscle tension.
8) Band-Boost Negatives (with Optional Band Kit) - Combines heavy controlled negatives with band-assisted explosive concentrics that unload 40–70 lb at the bottom of the press. This delivers AEL-like eccentric benefits while restoring speed and confidence out of the bottom position.
9) Smart Band-Reactive VBT (with Optional Band Kit) - Perform standard velocity-based training until bar speed drops more than 20%, at which point the bands automatically engage to unload 40–70 lb at the bottom of the lift. This preserves explosive intent, extends high-quality reps, and prevents late-set grinding.
10) Band-Enhanced Assist-to-Pin (with Optional Band Kit) - After pressing to failure, band assistance activates near the sticking point to reduce load by 40–70 lb as Assist-to-Pin positions the bar just above the failure height. This allows targeted overload of the sticking region with smoother transitions and reduced joint stress.
11) Band-Supported Free Mode (with Optional Band Kit) -
Functions like standard free lifting while the bands reduce load by 40–70 lb in the bottom 5-7 inches of the rep. This protects the shoulders and chest while maintaining natural bar path and full control.
Under Development
Accentuated Eccentric Loading - pump out a set with 10-50% more load during the negative phase than in the positive phase of each rep. Note: hoist assistance only on incremental weight, not total weight.
